Keyboard & Mouse
Keyboard & mouse - what Kind Should I Get?
There are 3 main connection types for keyboards and mice to choose from:-
USB wired - cheapest
USB wireless - more expensive
Bluetooth wireless - most expensive
USB wired keyboards and mice are the most reliable.
USB Wireless keyboards & mice require batteries to work and when the batteries run down it can be inconvenient. Having a battery tester and spare batteries on hand is recommended. USB wireless keyboards & mice have a receiver which connects to a USB port.
Bluetooth wireless requires the PC to have bluetooth built-in or a USB bluetooth adapter. The keyboard and/or mouse must be paired with the PC for it to work. Bluetooth mice are often the best choice for laptops with bluetooth as there is the convenience of no wires and no USB receiver.
Most mice these days use infrared light to track movement. If the mouse is on a surface which is transparent or changes in colour or is a dark colour it can have trouble tracking the movement. Sometimes placing the mouse on a piece of white A4 photocopy paper will fix it.
For most situations we recommend USB wired keyboards and mice. The reason is that there is no hassle with batteries, no pairing/communication hassles, no interference or health concerns with radio signal transmitted and slightly better response times.VD Writer, BluRay Combo or BluRay Writer?
